Do NOT dismiss this exercise. This is an exercise which is so often missed in most Occult books and is actually a crucial one. Simply it is making an energy ball and floating it away from you, then returning it to you. Why is this important? Well, when you attempt to rise on the planes essentially what you are doing is transferring your consciousness to an energy body and allowing that energy to float away from you. Often when you float an energy construct away from you, without focused intention on keeping it maintained together, it quickly dissipates. If the first time you come across this phenomenon is when you’re attempting to maintain a focus to keep your consciousness in the energy body, while looking at another plane, then you’re demanding a lot of learning at once. If you practice this exercise a lot then by the time you attempt astral projection and rising on the planes you will be used to one part of the process.
Pre-requisites: Making an Energy ball, Using Visualization to control energy from Using Non-tactile senses
- Take a few deep breaths to relax yourself.
- Make an energy ball
- Visualise the ball floating up above your hand and returning to your hand. Try to make sure it doesn’t lose any energy. Keep floating it higher and higher.
- Try to give it the instruction to leave your hand on the word ‘go’, circle the room and return to your hand. Then say ‘go’. Practice this multiple times until you’re quite good at the balls returning to your hand with most of its energy intact.
- Finally, visualise the energy ball rising from your hand. Send it across the room. Hold it there for a while, and then return it to your hand.
- When you’re complete you can integrate any useful energy with your system by drawing it to the lower dantian (just beneath the navel at the front of the body) and letting your lower dantian absorb it.
As I said this exercise should be performed frequently to get used to floating energy balls and constructs away from you, for greater and greater distances and longer and longer times. Once mastered it will really help in Astral Projection.
While this was a common part of my own training, I have rarely seen it in books. One Book where I did see it was Andrieh Vitimus’ Chaos Magic. This book is a good primer on modern magic, but does not delve deeply into Chaos Magic’s ideas and doctrine despite the name.
