Psionics is the practice of energy work as a means of exploring fringe reality. It grew up as a fringe internet culture in the 90s and went on to influence a lot of work particularly modern practical Chaos Magic. Often the practitioners will draw on spiritual practices to create diverse sensations of reality, this allows them to gather a greater understanding of reality from different perspectives.
Frequently, this practice is met with scientific approaches to spirituality, which do away with religious concepts in preference for conclusions based on experiences. I would like to note the similarity to the concept of Scientific Illuminism prevalent in Thelemic teaching.
The community is largely an online community where neurodiverse individuals are overrepresented.
Psionics was my gateway drug to the Occult world in the late 90s so they will always have a special place in my heart. See here a page about the websites I learned my early practices from and how I have attempted to recreate what is now no-longer online.
