One of the most important things, especially early in psychic development, is learning to shield. When we are new to this sort of practice we get all sorts of unwelcome psychic sensations.
It is easy to get nervous that we are bumping into demons or ghosts when usually it’s just a bit of place memory or sometimes energy larvae or just dirty energy. These things are rarely as dangerous as they seem and can usually be cleaned out and banished easily. To help protect us from feeling uncomfortable while our psychic impressions are growing at a rapid rate, it is important to learn to shield and to shield well. Good shields not only protect us from unwanted psychic impressions but also from the more aggressive forms of psychic attack as well. These aggressive forms are much more rare and usually people who complain about them are just picking up on place memory.
Psychic impressions are not helpful when we are in the office trying to concentrate on some spreadsheet. Getting empathy from your boss’s stress or feeling energy from your friend who is having sex at the other end of town is not helpful when you’re trying to concentrate.
Ideally, a shield should surround your energy body without exception. Gaps can let in energy and let out energy. Since they let out energy anything looking for a hole in your shield will see it immediately. Shields which are too hard can often shatter like glass so it ideally should have a tiny bit of give to it. I tend to try to use my feelings around a rubber tire. It feels hard but technically it has give to it.
The easiest way to do this is as follows:
- Step away from immediate sources of emotion or psychic noise putting physical distance between you and them.
- Focus on the core of your energy. Draw energy from above you and below you into your core to add to it. Do this a few times until your core begins to expand because you have put a lot of energy into it.
- Then focus on just the outer layer of your core and breathe in. During the out-breath I want you to imagine just that outer layer inflating like a balloon. Leaving the rest of your core intact. Keep going until the inflated balloon begins to be on the outside of you.
- Then just inflate it upwards and downwards until it makes an oval bubble that surrounds your entire body. Picture the sound of the room being muffled by it, but fresh air can still get to you.
- When you’re entirely inside the bubble visualise all the walls of the bubble becoming like the walls of a car tire. Very sturdy and solid, but with a tiny bit of give to them or a bit of bounce. That “give” prevents them from shattering if pressed too hard and imagining it like rubber programs the shield to bounce things away.
- You can also imagine that the surface of the bubble is like a reverse magnet that repels things away from it before they touch it to reduce the chance of it being damaged.
- From time to time this bubble might need topping up with energy to keep it working.
The more you can add to this visualisation the better. I remember Xosh or M. Belanger talking about a friend who used to come home from a rough day and put on some fluffy slipper socks and do some crochet. The socks seemed to give her a real sense of comfort and protection. For her imagining putting them on and pulling them up all around her like a sleeping bag worked better as a psychic shield. If you think back to the Energy Dictionary, you will remember perhaps that both the rubber tyre and the fluffy slipper might be two separate entries in your dictionary, which could equate to different things, for different people, on the etheric plane. So these visuals or sensations are not set in stone, but it is my personal experience that tyre walls tend to work well with the physics of the etheric plane, but perhaps a rock-solid edge does not always work as well. Steel is also another possible idea where you are effectively telling the shield wall that you’re making that it can bend without breaking, but the bounce of a tire has another added edge to it too.
