We have a physical body and whenever exercising it is important to know your body’s limits and what parts of the body can be used to do what. Anyone trying to use the muscles in their fingers to lift 100kg is likely to tear some muscles and tendons rather than build muscle. The subtle body is much the same. So it is important that we explore it and get to grips with it. It also exercises. As we exercise the subtle body’s ability to handle the flow of energy it adapts. I gets more and more capable like a body growing muscles.
No Chakras
Firstly, let’s dismiss some common misconceptions. You have heard of chakras. If you don’t know we will explore what they are later. One common misconception is the assumption that the subtle body has chakras. The subtle body does not naturally have them. Yeah, most of the new age community don’t know this and they publish books to the contrary. Just because they published a book does not mean they are right. In fact, there are a number of misconceptions relating to chakras which are dispelled in this article here. In fact, the subtle body is mostly a network of energy pipes called “nadis” or in qigong there are many meridians such as the “main” or storage vessels (also partially used for circulation), the “jing” or meridians for transport of qi and “luo” or branches/network that allows qi to come to the surface of the skin and play a huge role in weiqi or guardian qi protecting the body not only from spirits, but common illnesses as well.
But You Might See Chakras
Chakras are symbols which encourage spiritual evolution. The original chakra texts actually tell a person to visualise chakras, but, unfortunately, early translations say “see the chakras” leading many to believe that they are naturally already there. Over time this visualisation causes the energy in the subtle body to rearrange itself to appear like a chakra. You might look in your system and see chakras there for a number of reasons:
- At each point associated with the most commonly used chakra system, there is a conjunction of many nadis allowing for it to be a point suitable for the circulating energy. There are also nearby hormone glands at most chakra points.
- You may have practised a form of chakra dhyana before. Supposedly some parts of the energy body can transfer across multiple lifetimes. So you or an energy healer might have visualised and created chakras in the appropriate spots at some point before and there is a possibility that this might not have even been in this lifetime.
- So many people believe in chakras being already in the subtle body, so that could make an egregore that works in the way practitioners of the faith believe it will. Anyone practicing the egregore’s related tradition will be connected to the egregore and therefore to anything that is believed about the practice.
- You might have suggested to yourself that you would find them before you did.
- Your energy dictionary might be using those symbols to explain to you what your psychic senses are seeing there.
So maybe you will see chakras even though that’s not what they originally were.
The subtle body often more closely matches the physical body than many people give it credit for. It frequently has organs, storage facilities and circulation just like the physical body. It also radiates used energy into an outside layer called the aura.
The aura is a layer of energy outside of the body which has usually been radiated from the body. This provides an unintentional shield or filter protecting the practitioner from unwanted psychic intrusion and disease.
Exercise
Before proceeding with this exercise, I suggest you get your notebook which you are using for your energy dictionary, another notebook or notepaper to write on (or just write in the back of your energy dictionary). Then get comfortable in some loose-fitting clothes in a room you are likely to not be disturbed in.
- First, begin by making an energy ball.
- Next move it inside your legs and attempt to guide it up and down your legs. Where there are strong Nadis it should flow smoothly along the legs, where there are no Nadis or blockages it will struggle to flow.
- Now bring it up to the perineum. Flow the energy around that area, to the sex organs and towards the base of the spine. How does it feel when it is flowing around here? Make notes and try to draw the connections that your perceive and where the energy ball can flow easily.
- Flow the energy up the spine slowly. See if you can spot any channels that lead away from the spine. Particularly towards the arms. Draw them in your notes.
- Flow the energy over the top of the head and down the face to the base of the throat.
- Continue to explore as the energy to descends the front of the body back to the perenium.
- Finally, allow energy to flow down or up the centre of the body and see what channels and reservoirs you can find. As you go make sure to make notes.
In the end, you will have a detailed map of your own subtle body. All these parts will need regular clearing and energy flow to increase what the body can take.
