According to Agrippa’s Three books of Occult Philosophy Ariel is angel of the element of Earth. Ariel should not be confused with Uriel (who I will often spell as Auriel due to the Hebrew letters that make his name). Uriel is the Angel of the South quadrant although most modern practitioners place Uriel in the Northward direction. Modern practitioners use Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn Malkuth Temple directions which place Earth in the North because they place the letters of Adonai (ADNI) around the initiate. The yod of ADNI, placed in the North, is associated with Virgo which an earth sign in the zodiac. In Of the Scale of 4 in Agrippa’s second book, the column with Earth contains Auriel/Uriel so he has become associated with Earth over time, but Auriel/Uriel is an Angel of the quarter not the element.
Alternatively, Ariel appears as a separate name among a list of angels of the elements Ariel, Tharsis, Cherub and Seraph and not the same as Auriel who appears among a list of Arcangels of the quarters Auriel, Gabriel, Raphael and Michael.

Invocation of Ariel
This invocation is based on Dr Rudd’s work where the invocations to visible appearance mention all the spheres from which the angels hail and the places in whicg they reside and the spheres over which they rule. A true Magician wouldn’t just use my own work, but would consider reading the original. You might write your own version, but like I do you would do the original and compare results being honest to yourself. Too many wannabe magicians don’t like certain wording in spells and so always change it without doing it in its original format or mindset and then assume they know better than those who have at least tried it once.
In the East I place the letter Aleph to be held by the angel Michael,
In the South I place the letter Daleth to be held by the angel Uriel,
In the West I place the letter Nun to be held by the angel Raphael,
In the North I place the letter Yodh to be held by the angel Gavriel.
