Pronounced “Shee” this word means an earthen mound often referring to the earthen mounds in which people were buried. Modern usage the word is short for Aes Sidhe (“Es shee”) which means people of the mound, referring to the spirits of the dead.
The word Banshee is derived from it (Bean Sidhe).
