This is a Script for a path-working, seeing inner visions and potentially stepping into the astral plane. We do a similar thing with my local coven particularly, when the COVID-19 crisis is going on, so we can still meet up and do our ritual work together, but since we are still socially distancing we use it to meet on the astral plane instead. We use a different path-working, but the aim is the same. I am using a very ceremonial magic focused vision so if you don’t know your tree of life and golden dawn queen scale colour system for it then this will probably do nothing for you. Maybe come back to this later when you’re doing more Golden Dawn magic if it is relevant to you.

I have done this pathworking induction for a long time, in fact there is a diagram without a name in my journal from 2005 which is this temple’s layout so I assume I have been using this for 15 years now along with others. It led to my personal experience with what I think is the abyss and my holy guardian angel. Today we are not going to use it for that just to enter a state of inner vision. This is like most neo-shamanic journeying, dreamwalking and could potentially allow you to “rise on the planes” or do astral projection if you use it in a deep enough trance state.

Starting place

To begin with I will show you the layout of my temple that I use for these path-workings. This is a limited diagram and not the be all and end all. This is where you start from and it’s good to have a start place you know well so I try to describe this in detail. For other places on the astral plane, you will need to visit them regularly to get a familiarity. Always looking at new places can make you lose sync with the inner vision and snap out of it making it a waste of time.

Just outside of the temple is a ritual bath with some robes.

Okay firstly you’re stepping into a temple with 3 columns either side. I do it King Solomon focused a lot of people prefer more Egyptian, frankly I’m not going to waste my time arguing about decor. Sometimes I even swap left and right.

As you come in the entrance ahead of you you see an altar with a rich purple cloth with many silver magical tools on it, wands, athames / daggers, cups and disk. All made of a previous polished silver shining bright in the light. This is symbolic of the moon and closest part of the astral plane which in the Modern Christianised Qabalah is called Yesod. There is a trap door in front of the altar with stairs beneath it which would go into the realms inner visions of Yesod.

To the right of the altar is a huge pillar so tall you can’t see the top if it even has one, the ceiling just seems to reach into eternity. There is a wide circular table around the base of the pillar which acts as a altar table with a vibrant green cloth and with copper tools on it. This is symbolic of the
Netzach from the Christianised Qabalah. Behind this pillar is a door which leads to the inner visions which relate to Netzach.

Beyond these three further into the temple is another altar in the centre with a pillar either side. In the centre is a large round altar with a bright yellow cloth which has many tools all of which are gold and shine with incredible brilliance in fact it is hard to look directly at them. This is meant to symbolise Tiphereth and it also has a trap door.

To the left of the altar is another equally huge pillar the base of which is surrounded by a table covered in a deep orange cloth and tools made of a reddish orange crystal stone called fire opal. This is symbolic of Hod. Behind this pillar is a door to the inner visions which pertain to Hod.

On the right is a pillar with a blue altar at the base with tools made of a shiny tin. This is symbolic of Chesed (also called Gedulah). This also has a door behind it. At the base of this altar is a blue rope.

On the left is a pillar with a red altar at the base and tools of iron and mahogany, including some tall staffs. This altar is for Geburah with its own door behind it.

At the far end of the temple the pillar on the right is entirely white (Jachin or Chokhmah) and on the pillar on the left is Black (Boaz or Binah). Between them is a huge wide staircase leading up to a curtain through which nothing can be seen but a tiny crack in the middle of the curtain allows a slither of light which is so bright it appears almost solid as it shines down to the altar of Tiphereth. It shines on the gold tools on the yellow altar, which reflect this light all around the room.

Techniques to maintain the vision

I try to use a few techniques to maintain the vision state. Making people look at their feet and feel the floor beneath them. If they need to do some energy grounding to do so into the floor of the vision rather than the floor below their physical location. If someone and hear echos back from the chamber they are in to help people ground into the dreamspace / astral plane. This kind of working can give you quite intense inner visions, but remember it is not always the astral plane that you step into, but this will help you get there eventually if you use it a lot and work hard to get into a deep trance.

Prepare

Okay you can prepare as much or as little as you would like. Firstly you’re going to want to sit still for an extended period of time so find a comfortable place. Make sure you’re unlikely to be disturbed. Either have a copy of the Script in front of you or, most effective, record yourself reading the script, on your phone or something so you can play it back and listen to it. Give yourself a few seconds between each instruction to experience it in the inner vision. Don’t be afraid to give yourself a few seconds to see whatever you need to see and a what works is sometimes a warning to say you’re about to end. Change the Script to make it work for you.

This works best when you have a peaceful state of mind, but if you want you can jump straight in.

Things that help you get into a peaceful state of mind, try the easy ones first. Many magicians jump straight to the third and fail so they don’t :

  • Take 3 slow deep breaths, or
  • Let your mind go blank for 2 minutes. Any thoughts than come into your mind, relax them like they were tensions. If you have thoughts that arise ignore them. Sooner or later your brain will not throw so many thoughts up. You can learn more about this technique by watching videos on Lojong / Mind training from my favourite Buddhist lama Jetsunma Tenzin Palermo
  • Or you can sit still for 20 minutes. Your body will send a “tick signal” which is an instruction to move if you’re still awake. Its like when you’re trying to sleep and you feel a need to roll over. If your brain doesn’t respond to this for a while your body will assume your brain went to sleep and take you into a deep comfortable trance. Usually it takes at least 20 minutes to get into this state. When done correctly a lot of people get sleep paralysis. You can alter your breathing (make it fast or slower) then after a few seconds that should trigger your body to realise the brain is awake.

Script

It’s helpful to record this Script in advance, but you can always read it off a screen, but it does disturb the vision. If not you can have someone else read the script to you while you go into the inner vision.

  1. You are at the entrance to the temple. You’re about to walk on holy ground on which people can step into the worlds of inner vision and meet with the gods. Also the metadivine / the infinite god shines his light into this temple. Before you go in, you need to wash off your normal life and enter this sacred space sacred and set apart. There are separate steps in from the steps out. You take off your shoes and socks, bottoms and tops. Don’t worry this is your space there is no-one else around. Fold your clothes leave them on the side.
  2. Now you are completely naked walk down the entrance steps. As each foot descends into the water feel the perfect warmth of the water as it goes up your skins. The water washes away your tension. Keep going down until you are up to your neck you have reached the bottom. Slowly dip your head in the water, completely submerging yourself and come back up.
  3. Ascend the other steps to come out of the pool. You can feel the air on your skin, but you are not cold. There are some white Egyptian cotton towels. Use these to dry yourself.
  4. There are some robes. They are suitable for a priest to walk in the temple with the highest of gods. If you can’t imagine what they look like then imagine they are white loose robes with a gold trim. Put them on. They fit perfectly.
  5. You can enter the temple now. As you do the heavy stone door behind you slowly slides shut and will remain shut until you decide to leave. You are safe and protected here. You hear the rubble of the heavy stone as it slides. Giving you the impression of great weight.
  6. You see the purple clothed altar in front of you as you enter the door. You slowly walk to it and sit comfortably on the warmed marble sandstone floor in front of it. Feel the ground under you as you sit down on it.
  7. To go forward you will need to leave your grosser self here. Say the divine name “Shaddai El Chai” which booms in the temple. Imagine your astral self is able to get up. You might feel a pull back to your body, but just resist this for a sec it will pass.
  8. Leave your grosser self seated here and walk over to the altar for Geburah. See the red cloth and pick up a bright shiny iron sword with a belt and scabbard. Secure it on your left so you can pick it up with your right hand.
  9. Pull out the sword and speak the divine name out loud “Elohim Gibor” to attune your arm to it. Your voice booms, reverberating and you hear it echoing back from the walls of your temple. You feel the warmth flow out of the sword and up your right arm going to your heart and energizing you. Re-sheath the sword.
  10. Beneath the altar is a red rope tied to the base of the pillar. Tie the other end to your left-hand. So long as you are going deeper into a vision this rope will get longer and give you no resistance, but if you are ever trying to return it will not get longer like a seat belt. So you can use this to return here to your body.
  11. Go over to the altar of Chesed. Pick up the chalice of tin which rests on the rich blue cloth. Hold it up with your left hand and speak the divine name “El” which again booms and reverberates bouncing off the walls of your temple. You feel a coolness flowing in your left arm from the cup into your heart bringing you a sense of peace. If you put this on your right it will cling to your belt as if by a strong magnet.
  12. Beneath the altar of Chesed is a blue rope tied to the base of this pillar. Like the other rope it will give you the length you need, but if you need to climb back up it then you will be able to. Tie it to your right-hand.
  13. Approach the altar of Tiphereth with the shining gold objects on it. In front of it is a trap door. Command the door to open in the name of “Yod Heh Vav Heh Eloah Ve-Daat”. This trap door opens and you see the massive void of space with distant stars and crystal steps leading away from it.
  14. Descend down the steps feeling them under your feet as you go, ropes behind you. As you go down the steps you go into a deeper and deeper trance. You might feel a little vertigo realising how there is no ground beneath the stairs, but don’t worry, you are your inner vision self which has no real weight and is only subject to gravity when it wants to be. Also the ropes will stops you falling completely into the abyss.
  15. As you go down you don’t see the ground above your head just the depth of space. A portal, like a hole in space, floats at the top of the stairs behind you which leads back into the temple.
  16. As you walk down the steps they can take you anywhere. You descend down to a large platform which is floating in space with a portal. This portal will take you to the Akashic Records or a gigantic library of wisdom compiled in one place.
  17. Step through into the Akashic records. You’re in a huge hall with shelves everywhere. You see cubby-holes filled with scrolls every where, some dusty, some new. There is a large bird who stands here. An Ibis who happens to speak in your native tongue. This is Thoth / Hermes Trismegistus.
  18. You approach Thoth and introduce yourself. Ask him if there is anything for you to learn from him today. What does he say? How does he move?
  19. Follow the ropes back to the portal to the astral plane.
  20. Pull on the ropes as a key for them to shorten. They pull you quickly through the portal, through void of space in the astral plane where you can simply pass through the stairs if you want to and finally back through the portal and out of the trap door until you are back in the temple.
  21. Untie the ropes and let them return to the base of each pillar. You can retain the sword and cup if you want.
  22. Return to sit in your body. Turn and as you want to leave the heavy door opens.
  23. Remove your clothing an put back your previous clothes.
  24. Well done.
